Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The production of psi(2S) mesons is studied in dimuon final states using proton-lead (pPb) collision data collected by the LHCb detector. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 nb(-1). The nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of the pPb collisions is root s(NN) = 5 TeV. The measurement is performed using psi(2S) mesons with transverse momentum less than 14 GeV/c and rapidity y in the ranges 1.5 < y < 4.0 and -5.0 < y < -2.5 in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass system. The forward-backward production ratio and the nuclear modi fi cation factor are determined for psi(2S) mesons. Using the production cross-section results of psi(2S) and J/psi mesons from b-hadron decays, the b (b) over bar cross-section in pPb collisions at root s(NN) = 5 TeV is obtained. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
The prompt production of +c baryons is studied in proton- lead collisions collected with the LHCb detector at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1 : 58 nb recorded at a nucleon- nucleon centre- of- mass energy of p sNN = 5 : 02TeV. Measurements of the di ff erential cross- section and the forwardbackward production ratio are reported for +c baryons with transverse momenta in the range 2 < pT < 10 GeV =c and rapidities in the ranges 1 : 5 < y < 4 : 0 and 4 : 5 < y < 2 : 5 in the nucleon- nucleon centre- of- mass system. The ratio of cross- sections of +c baryons and D0 mesons is also reported. The results are compared with next- to- leading order calculations that use nuclear parton distribution functions. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
This article presents the first measurement of the differential Z-boson production cross-section in the forward region using proton-lead collisions with the LHCb detector. The dataset was collected at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of root(NN)-N-s = 8.16TeV in 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 30.8 nb(-1). The forward-backward ratio and the nuclear modification factors are measured together with the differential crosssection as functions of the Z boson rapidity in the centre-of-mass frame, the transverse momentum of the Z boson and a geometric variable phi*. The results are in good agreement with the predictions from nuclear parton distribution functions, providing strong constraining power at small Bjorken-x. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
This Letter describes the measurement of elliptic flow of charged particles in lead-lead collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV using the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The results are based on an integrated luminosity of approximately 7 μb(-1). Elliptic flow is measured over a wide region in pseudorapidity, vertical bar eta vertical bar < 2.5, and over a broad range in transverse momentum, 0.5 < p(T) < 20 GeV. The elliptic flow parameter nu(2) is obtained by correlating individual tracks with the event plane measured using energy deposited in the forward calorimeters. As a function of transverse momentum, nu(2)(p(T)) reaches a maximum at p(T) of about 3 GeV. then decreases and becomes weakly dependent on p(T) above 7-8 GeV. Over the measured pseudorapidity region, nu(2) is found to be only weakly dependent on eta, with less variation than observed at lower beam energies. The results are discussed in the context of previous measurements at lower collision energies, as well as recent results from the LHC. |

Abstract ![sorted by Abstract field, ascending order (up)](img/sort_asc.gif) |
This paper presents measurements of charged-hadron spectra obtained in pp, p+Pb, and Pb+Pb collisions at root s or root s(NN) = 5.02TeV, and in Xe+Xe collisions at root s(NN) = 5.44TeV. The data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC have total integrated luminosities of 25 pb(-1), 28 nb(-1), 0.50 nb(-1), and 3 μb(-1), respectively. The nuclear modification factors RpPb and R-AA are obtained by comparing the spectra in heavy-ion and pp collisions in a wide range of charged-particle transverse momenta and pseudorapidity. The nuclear modification factor RpPb shows a moderate enhancement above unity with a maximum at p(T) approximate to 3 GeV; the enhancement is stronger in the Pb-going direction. The nuclear modification factors in both Pb+Pb and Xe+Xe collisions feature a significant, centrality-dependent suppression. They show a similar distinct p(T)-dependence with a local maximum at p(T) approximate to 2 GeV and a local minimum at p(T) approximate to 7 GeV. This dependence is more distinguishable in more central collisions. No significant eta |-dependence is found. A comprehensive comparison with several theoretical predictions is also provided. They typically describe RAA better in central collisions and in the pT range from about 10 to 100 GeV. |
