Title Spin instabilities of infinite nuclear matter and effective tensor interactions Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Physical Review C Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. C
Volume 87 Issue 4 Pages 044329 - 11pp
Keywords
Abstract (down) We study the effects of the tensor force, present in modern effective nucleon-nucleon interactions, in the spin instability of nuclear and neutron matter. Stability conditions of the system against certain very low energy excitation modes are expressed in terms of Landau parameters. It is shown that in the spin case, the stability conditions are equivalent to the condition derived from the spin susceptibility, which is obtained as the zero-frequency and long-wavelength limit of the spin response function calculated in the random phase approximation. Zero-range forces of the Skyrme type and finite-range forces of M3Y and Gogny type are analyzed. It is shown that for the Skyrme forces considered, the tensor effects are sizable and tend to increase the spin instability, which appears at smaller densities than in the case that the tensor is not taken into account. On the contrary, the tensor contribution of finite-range forces to the spin susceptibility is small or negligible for both isospin channels of symmetric nuclear matter as well as for neutron matter. A comparison with the spin susceptibility provided by realistic interactions is also presented.

Title Effects of a Nc(c)over-bar* resonance with hidden charm in the pi(-)p -> D-Sigma(+)(c) reaction near threshold Type Journal Article

Abstract (down) We study the effect of a hidden charm nuclear excited state N-c (c) over bar* in the pi(-)p -> D-Sigma(+)(c) reaction near threshold using an effective Lagrangian approach. We calculate the background contribution of the t and u channels by the D*(0) vector meson exchange and Sigma(++)(c) intermediate state, respectively. We show that the consideration of a N-c (c) over bar* resonance provides an enhancement of the total cross section close to the reaction threshold. We also evaluate the differential cross section for different energies and we study the angle dependence. It is expected that our model calculations will be tested in future experiments.

Title D(D)over-bar* scattering and chi(c1) (3872) in nuclear matter Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication Physical Review C Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. C
Volume 104 Issue 3 Pages 035203 - 20pp

Abstract (down) We study the behavior of the chi(c1) (3872), also known as X(3872), in dense nuclear matter. We begin from a picture in vacuum of the X(3872) as a purely molecular (D (D) over bar*-c.c.) state, generated as a bound state from a heavy-quark symmetry leading-order interaction between the charmed mesons, and analyze the D (D) over bar* scattering T matrix (T-D (D) over bar*) inside of the medium. Next, we consider also mixed-molecular scenarios and, in all cases, we determine the corresponding X(3872) spectral function and the D (D) over bar* amplitude, with the mesons embedded in the dense environment. We find important nuclear corrections for T-D (D) over bar* and the pole position of the resonance, and discuss the dependence of these results on the D (D) over bar* molecular component in the X(3872) wave function. These predictions could be tested in the finite-density regime that can be accessed in the future CBM and PANDA experiments at the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR).

Title Proton emission off nuclei induced by kaons in flight Type Journal Article

Abstract (down) We study the (K-, p) reaction on nuclei with a 1 GeV/c momentum kaon beam, paying special attention to the region of emitted protons having kinetic energy above 600 MeV, which was used to claim a deeply attractive kaon nucleus optical potential. Our model describes the nuclear reaction in the framework of a local density approach and the calculations are performed following two different procedures: one is based on a many-body method using the Lindhard function and the other is based on a Monte Carlo simulation. The simulation method offers flexibility to account for processes other than kaon quasielastic scattering, such as K- absorption by one and two nucleons, producing hyperons, and allows consideration of final-state interactions of the K-, the p, and all other primary and secondary particles on their way out of the nucleus, as well as the weak decay of the produced hyperons into pi N. We find a limited sensitivity of the cross section to the strength of the kaon optical potential. We also show a serious drawback in the experimental setup-the requirement for having, together with the energetic proton, at least one charged particle detected in the decay counter surrounding the target-as we find that the shape of the original cross section is appreciably distorted, to the point of invalidating the claims made in the experimental paper on the strength of the kaon nucleus optical.

Title Nuclear medium effects in nu(nu)-nucleus deep inelastic scattering Type Journal Article
Year 2011 Publication Physical Review C Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. C
Volume 84 Issue 5 Pages 054610 - 13pp

Abstract (down) We study nuclear medium effects in the weak structure functions F(2)(x, Q(2)) and F(3)(x, Q(2)) in the deep inelastic neutrino and antineutrino induced reactions in nuclei. We use a theoretical model for the nuclear spectral functions which incorporates the conventional nuclear effects, such as Fermi motion, binding, and nucleon correlations. We also consider the pion and rho meson cloud contributions calculated from a microscopic model for meson-nucleus self-energies. The calculations have been performed using relativistic nuclear spectral functions. Our results are compared with the experimental data of the NuTeV and the CERN Dortmund Heidelberg Saclay Warsaw (CDHSW) collaborations.
