Title First observation of the decay D-0 -> K-pi(+)mu(+)mu(-) in the rho(0)-omega region of the dimuon mass spectrum Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Physics Letters B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Lett. B
  Volume 757 Issue Pages 558-567
  Keywords
Abstract A study of the decay D-0 -> K-pi(+)mu(+)mu(-) is performed using data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb(-1). Decay candidates with muon pairs that have an invariant mass in the range 675-875 MeV/c(2) are considered. This region is dominated by the rho(0) and omega resonances. The branching fraction in this range is measured to be B(D-0 -> K-pi(+)mu(+)mu(-)) = (4.17 +/- 0.12 (stat) +/- 0.40 (syst)) x 10(-6). This is the first observation of the decay D-0 -> K-pi(+)mu(+)mu(-). Its branching fraction is consistent with the value expected in the Standard Model.

Title New neutron-deficient isotopes from Kr-78 fragmentation Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Physical Review C Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. C
  Volume 93 Issue 6 Pages 061301 - 5pp
  Keywords
Abstract In an experiment with the RIKEN projectile fragment separator called BigRIPS at the RIKEN Nishina Center, the fragmentation of a Kr-78 beam allowed the observation of new neutron-deficient isotopes at the proton drip line. Clean identification spectra could be produced and Se-63, Kr-67, and Kr-68 were identified for the first time. In addition, Ge-59 was also observed. Three of these isotopes, Ge-59, Se-63, and Kr-67, are potential candidates for ground-state two-proton radioactivity. In addition, the isotopes Ge-58, Se-62, and Kr-66 were also sought but without success. The present experiment also allowed the determination of production cross sections for some of the most exotic isotopes. These measurements confirm the trend already observed that the empirical parametrization of fragmentation cross sections, EPAX, significantly overestimates experimental cross sections in this mass region.

Title Measurements of Z gamma and Z gamma gamma production in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 93 Issue 11 Pages 112002 - 41pp
  Keywords
Abstract The production of Z bosons with one or two isolated high-energy photons is studied using pp collisions at root s = 8 TeV. The analyses use a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb(-1) collected by the ATLAS detector during the 2012 LHC data taking. The Z gamma and Z gamma gamma production cross sections are measured with leptonic (e(+) e(-), mu(+) mu(-), nu(nu) over bar) decays of the Z boson, in extended fiducial regions defined in terms of the lepton and photon acceptance. They are then compared to cross-section predictions from the Standard Model, where the sources of the photons are radiation off initial-state quarks and radiative Z-boson decay to charged leptons, and from fragmentation of final-state quarks and gluons into photons. The yields of events with photon transverse energy E-T > 250 GeV from l(+) l(-) gamma events and with E-T > 400 GeV from nu(nu) over bar gamma events are used to search for anomalous triple gauge-boson couplings ZZ gamma and Z gamma gamma. The yields of events with diphoton invariant mass m(gamma gamma) > 200 GeV from l(+) l(-) gamma gamma events and with m(gamma gamma) > 300 GeV from nu(nu) over bar gamma gamma events are used to search for anomalous quartic gauge-boson couplings ZZ gamma gamma and Z gamma gamma gamma. No deviations from Standard Model predictions are observed and limits are placed on parameters used to describe anomalous triple and quartic gauge-boson couplings.

Title Lagrangians for massive Dirac chiral superfields Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Nuclear Physics B Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Phys. B
  Volume 907 Issue Pages 18-36
  Keywords
Abstract A variant for the superspin one-half massive superparticle in 4D, N = 1, based on Dirac superfields, is offered. As opposed to the current known models that use spinor chiral superfields, the propagating fields of the supermultiplet are those of the lowest mass dimensions possible: scalar, Dirac and vector fields. Besides the supersymmetric chiral condition, the Dirac superfields are not further constrained, allowing a very straightforward implementation of the path-integral method. The corresponding superpropagators are presented. In addition, an interaction super Yukawa potential, formed by Dirac and scalar chiral superfields, is given in terms of their component fields. The model is first presented for the case of two superspin one-half superparticles related by the charged conjugation operator, but in order to treat the case of neutral superparticles, the Majorana condition on the Dirac superfields is also studied. We compare our proposal with the known models of spinor superfields for the one-half superparticle and show that it is equivalent to them.

Title Measurement of D-*+/-, D-+/- and D-S(+/-) meson production cross sections in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Nuclear Physics B Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Phys. B
  Volume 907 Issue Pages 717-763
  Keywords
Abstract The production of D*(+/-), D-+/- and D-S(+/-) charmed mesons has been measured with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at,/7s = 7 TeV at the LHC, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 280 nb(-)1(.) The charmed mesons have been reconstructed in the range of transverse momentum 3.5 < p(T)(D) < 100 GeV and pseudorapidity vertical bar eta(D)vertical bar < 2.1. The differential cross sections as a function of transverse momentum and pseudorapidity were measured for D*(+/-) and D-+/- production. The next-to-leading-order QCD predictions are consistent with the data in the visible kinematic region within the large theoretical uncertainties. Using the visible D cross sections and an extrapolation to the full kinematic phase space, the strangeness -suppression factor in charm fragmentation, the fraction of charged non -strange D mesons produced in a vector state, and the total cross section of charm production at root s = 7 TeV were derived.
