Abstract: Fiducial and total W+ and Z boson cross sections, their ratios and the ratio of top-antitop-quark pair and.. -boson fiducial cross sections are measured in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13.6 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 29 fb(-1) of data collected in 2022 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The measured fiducial cross-section values for W+ -> l(+) v, W- -> l(-) v- <overline>, and Z -> l(+)l(-) (l =e or mu) boson productions are 4250 +/- 150 pb, 3310 +/- 120 pb, and 744 +/- 20 pb, respectively, where the uncertainty is the total uncertainty, including that arising from the luminosity of about 2.2%. The measurements are in agreement with Standard-Model predictions calculated at next-to-next-to-leading-order in alpha(s) ,next-to-nextto-leading logarithmic accuracy and next-to-leading-order electroweak accuracy.

Abstract: The mass of the Higgs boson is measured in the H -> Z Z* -> 4l decay channel. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data from the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector between 2015 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1). The measured value of the Higgs boson mass is 124.99 0.18(stat.) +/- 0.04(syst.) GeV. In final states with muons, this measurement benefits from an improved momentum-scale calibration relative to that adopted in previous publications. The measurement also employs an analytic model that takes into account the invariant-mass resolution of the four-lepton system on a per-event basis and the output of a deep neural network discriminating signal from background events. This measurement is combined with the corresponding measurement using 7 and 8 TeV pp collision data, resulting in a Higgs boson mass of 124.94 +/- 0.17(stat.) +/- 0.03(syst.) GeV.

Abstract: A measurement of the charge asymmetry in top-quark pair (t (t) over bar) production in association with a photon is presented. The measurement is performed in the single-lepton t (t) over bar decay channel using proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN at a centre-of-mass-energy of 13 TeV during the years 2015-2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1). The charge asymmetry is obtained from the distribution of the difference of the absolute rapidities of the top quark and antiquark using a profile likelihood unfolding approach. It is measured to be A(C) = -0.003 +/- 0.029 in agreement with the Standard Model expectation.

Abstract: This Letter presents the measurement of the fiducial and differential cross-sections of the electroweak production of a Z gamma pair in association with two jets. The analysis uses 140 fb(-1)of LHC proton-proton collision data taken at root s=13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector during the years 2015-2018. Events with a Zboson candidate decaying into either an e(+) e(-) or mu(+) mu(-) pair, a photon and two jets are selected. The electroweak component is extracted by requiring a large dijet invariant mass and by using the information about the centrality of the system and is measured with an observed and expected significance well above five standard deviations. The fiducial pp -> Z gamma jj cross-section for the electroweak production is measured to be 3.6 +/- 0.5fb. The total fiducial cross-section that also includes contributions where the jets arise from strong interactions is measured to be 16.8(-1.8)(+2.0) fb. The results are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. Differential cross-sections are also measured using the same events and are compared with parton-shower Monte Carlo simulations. Good agreement is observed between data and predictions.

Abstract: The mass of the Higgs boson is measured in the H -> gamma gamma decay channel, exploiting the high resolution of the invariant mass of photon pairs reconstructed from the decays of Higgs bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy root s = 13 TeV. The dataset was collected between 2015 and 2018 by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider, and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb(-1). The measured value of the Higgs boson mass is 125.17 +/- 0.11 (stat.) +/- 0.09 (syst.) GeV and is based on an improved energy scale calibration for photons, whose impact on the measurement is about four times smaller than in the previous publication. A combination with the corresponding measurement using 7 and 8 TeV pp collision ATLAS data results in a Higgs boson mass measurement of 125.22 +/- 0.11 (stat.) +/- 0.09 (syst.) GeV. With an uncertainty of 1.1 per mille, this is currently the most precise measurement of the mass of the Higgs boson from a single decay channel.

Abstract: The inclusive J/psi production cross-section and fraction of J/psi mesons produced in B-hadron decays are measured in proton proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, as a function of the transverse momentum and rapidity of the J/psi, using 2.3 pb(-1) of integrated luminosity. The cross-section is measured from a minimum P(T) of 1 GeV to a maximum of 70 GeV and for rapidities within vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.4 giving the widest reach of any measurement of J/psi production to date. The differential production cross-sections of prompt and non-prompt J/psi are separately determined and are compared to Colour Singlet NNLO*, Colour Evaporation Model, and FONLL predictions.

Abstract: A measurement of the fragmentation functions of jets into charged particles in p Pb collisions and pp collisions is presented. The analysis utilizes 28 nb(-1) of p Pb data and 26 pb(-1) of pp data, both at root(TN)-T-s= 5.02 TeV, collected in 2013 and 2015, respectively, with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The measurement is reported in the centre-of-mass frame of the nucleon-nucleon system for jets in the rapidity range vertical bar y*vertical bar <1.6 and with transverse momentum 45 < p(T) < 260 GeV. Results are presented both as a function of the charged-particle transverse momentum and as a function of the longitudinal momentum fraction of the particle with respect to the jet. The pp fragmentation functions are compared with results from Monte Carlo event generators and two theoretical models. The ratios of the p +Pb to pp fragmentation functions are found to be consistent with unity. (C) 2018 CERN for the benefit of the ATLAS Collaboration.

Abstract: In order to cope with the occupancy and radiation doses expected at the High-Luminosity LHC, the ATLAS experiment will replace its Inner Detector with an all-silicon Inner Tracker (ITk), consisting of pixel and strip subsystems. In the last two years, several prototype ITk strip modules have been tested using beams of high energy electrons produced at the DESY-II testbeam facility. Tracking was provided by EUDET telescopes. The modules tested are built from two sensor types: the rectangular ATLAS17LS, which will be used in the outer layers of the central barrel region of the detector, and the annular ATLAS12EC, which will be used in the innermost ring (R0) of the forward region. Additionally, a structure with two RO modules positioned back-to-back has been measured, demonstrating space point reconstruction using the stereo angle of the strips. Finally, one barrel and one RO module have been measured after irradiation to 40% beyond the expected end-of-lifetime fluence. The data obtained allow for thorough tests of the module performance, including charge collection, noise occupancy, detection efficiency, and tracking performance. The results give confidence that the ITk strip detector will meet the requirements of the ATLAS experiment.

Abstract: The inner tracker of the ATLAS detector is scheduled to be replaced by a completely new silicon-based inner tracker (ITk) for the Phase-II of the CERN LHC (HL-LHC). The silicon strip detector covers the volume 40 < R < 100 cm in the radial and vertical bar z vertical bar <300 cm in the longitudinal directions. The silicon sensors for the detector will be fabricated using the n(+)-on-p 6-inch wafer technology, for a total of 22,000 wafers. Intensive studies were carried out on the final prototype sensors ATLAS17LS fabricated by Hamamatsu Photonics (HPK). The charge collection properties were examined using penetrating Sr-90 beta-rays and the ALIBAVA fast readout system for the miniature sensors of 1 cm xl cm in area. The samples were irradiated by protons in the 27 MeV Birmingham Cyclotron, the 70 MeV CYRIC at Tohoku University, and the 24 GeV CERN-PS, and by neutrons at Ljubljana TAIGA reactor for fluence values up to 2 x 10(15) n(eq)/cm(2). The change in the charge collection with fluence was found to be similar to the previous prototype ATLAS12, and acceptable for the ITk. Sensors with two active thicknesses, 300 μm (standard) and 240 μm (thin), were compared and the difference in the charge collection was observed to be small for bias voltages up to 500 V. Some samples were also irradiated with gamma radiation up to 2 MGy, and the full depletion voltage was found to decrease with the dose. This was caused by the Compton electrons due to the( 60)Co gamma radiation. To summarize, the design of the ATLAS17LS and technology for its fabrication have been verified for implementation in the ITk. We are in the stage of sensor pre-production with the first sensors already delivered in January of 2020.

Abstract: Measurements are presented from proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of root s = 0.9, 2.36 and 7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Events were collected using a single-arm minimum-bias trigger. The charged-particle multiplicity, its dependence on transverse momentum and pseudorapidity and the relationship between the mean transverse momentum and charged-particle multiplicity are measured. Measurements in different regions of phase space are shown, providing diffraction-reduced measurements as well as more inclusive ones. The observed distributions are corrected to well-defined phase-space regions, using model-independent corrections. The results are compared to each other and to various Monte Carlo (MC) models, including a new AMBT1 pythia6 tune. In all the kinematic regions considered, the particle multiplicities are higher than predicted by the MC models. The central charged-particle multiplicity per event and unit of pseudorapidity, for tracks with p(T) > 100 MeV, is measured to be 3.483 +/- 0.009 (stat) +/- 0.106 (syst) at root s = 0.9 TeV and 5.630 +/- 0.003 (stat) +/- 0.169 (syst) at root s = 7 TeV.
