Title A new observable to measure the top quark mass at hadron colliders Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Pramana-Journal of Physics Abbreviated Journal (down) Pramana-J. Phys.
Volume 79 Issue 4 Pages 809-812
Keywords Top quark; mass; pole mass; NLO; cross-section; t(t)over-bar plus jet; POWHEG; perturbative QCD
Abstract The t (t) over bar + jet + X differential cross-section in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV centre of mass energy is investigated with respect to its sensitivity to the top quark mass. The analysis includes higher order QCD corrections at NLO. The impact of the renormalization scale (mu(R)), the factorization (mu(F)) scale and of the choice of different proton's PDF (parton distribution function) has been evaluated. In this study it is concluded that differential jet rates offer a promising option for alternative mass measurements of the top quark, with theoretical uncertainties below 1 GeV.

Title Effects of gas chamber geometry and gas flow on the neutron production in a fast plasma focus neutron source Type Journal Article
Year 2014 Publication Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion Abbreviated Journal (down) Plasma Phys. Control. Fusion
Volume 56 Issue 12 Pages 125013 - 5pp
Keywords pulsed neutron source; repetitive plasma focus; neutron yield measurement; fast plasma focus
Abstract This work reports that gas chamber geometry and gas flow management substantially affect the neutron production of a repetitive fast plasma focus. The gas flow rate is the most sensitive parameter. An appropriate design of the gas chamber combined with a suitable flow-rate management can lead to improvements in the neutron production of one order of magnitude working in a fast repetitive mode.

Title The Hawking Effect in the Particles-Partners Correlations Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Physics Abbreviated Journal (down) Physics
Volume 5 Issue 4 Pages 968-982
Keywords quantum fields in curved space; black holes; Hawking radiation; correlations across the horizon
Abstract We analyze the correlations functions across the horizon in Hawking black hole radiation to reveal the correlations between Hawking particles and their partners. The effects of the underlying space-time on this are shown in various examples ranging from acoustic black holes to regular black holes.

Title Partial wave decomposition of the N3LO equation of state Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Physica Scripta Abbreviated Journal (down) Phys. Scr.
Volume 90 Issue 11 Pages 114002 - 6pp
Keywords nuclear structure; equation of state; effective theory
Abstract By means of a partial wave decomposition, we separate their contributions to the equation of state (EoS) of symmetric nuclear matter for the N3LO pseudo-potential. In particular, we show that although both the tensor and the spin-orbit terms do not contribute to the EoS, they give a non-vanishing contribution to the separate (JLS) channels.

Title Toward lifetime and g factor measurements of short-lived states in the vicinity of Pb-208 Type Journal Article
Year 2017 Publication Physica Scripta Abbreviated Journal (down) Phys. Scr.
Volume 92 Issue 5 Pages 054004 - 4pp
Keywords multi-nucleon transfer reaction; lifetime measurement; AGATA; VAMOS plus
Abstract The multi-nucleon transfer reaction mechanism was used to produce and study nuclei in the vicinity of 208Pb. This mass region is a test case for the nuclear shell model. The mass identification of the fragments was performed with the large acceptance magnetic spectrometer VAMOS++ coupled to the AGATA gamma-tracking array. This experiment aimed to determine both lifetimes and gyromagnetic ratios of excited states with the Cologne plunger device. The analysis indicates promising results with the possibility to determine several new lifetimes in this region.
