Abstract: Measurements of CP asymmetries in charmless three-body decays of B-+/- mesons are reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.9 fb(-1). The previously observed CP asymmetry in B-+/- -> pi(K+K-)-K-+/- decays is confirmed, and CP asymmetries are observed with a significance of more than five standard deviations in the B-+/- -> pi(+/-)pi(+)pi and B-+/- -> (KK+K-)-K-+/- decays, while the CP asymmetry of B-+/- -> K-+/-pi(+)pi(-) decays is confirmed to be compatible with zero. The distributions of these asymmetries are also studied as a function of the three-body phase space and suggest contributions from rescattering and resonance interference processes. An indication of the presence of the decays B+ -> pi(+) chi(c0) (1P) in both B+ ->pi(+)pi(+)pi and B+ ->pi+K+K- decays is observed, as is CP violation involving these amplitudes.

Abstract: The decay E-b -> A0bx-- is observed using a proton-proton collision data sample collected at center-of-ffiffimass energy p s 1/4 13 TeV with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.5 fb-1. This process is mediated by the s -> uu over bar d quark-level transition, where the b quark in the E-b baryon is a spectator in the decay. Abstract: Measurements of CP asymmetry in charmless B -> PV decays are presented, where P and V denote a pseudoscalar and a vector meson, respectively. Five different B -> PV decays from four final states, B-+/- -> pi(+/-)pi(+) pi(-), B-+/- -> K-+/-pi(+) pi(-), B-+/-->(KK+K-)-K-+/- and B-+/- -> pi(K+K-)-K-+/- are analyzed. The measurements are based on a method that does not require full amplitude analyses, and are performed using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by LHCb between 2015 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.9 fb(-1). In the pi(+) pi(-) P-wave, in the region dominated by the B-+/- -> rho(770)K-0(+/-) decay, a CP asymmetry of A(CP) = +0.150 +/- 0.019 +/- 0.011 is measured, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This is the first observation of CP violation in this process. For the other four decay channels, in regions dominated by the B-+/- -> rho(770)(0)pi(+/-), B-+/- -> K(-)*(892)(0) pi(+/-), B-+/- -> K(-)* (892)K-+/- and B-+/- -> (sic)(1020) K-+/- decays, CP asymmetries in the P-wave compatible with zero are measured.

Abstract: The branching fraction B(B-0 -> D*(-)tau(+)nu(tau)) is measured relative to that of the normalization mode B-0 -> D*(-) pi(+)pi(-)pi(+) using hadronic tau(+) -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(+) (pi(0))(nu) over bar (tau) decays in proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb(-1). The measured ratio is B(B-0 -> D*(-)tau(+)nu(tau))/B(B-0 -> D*(-) pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)) = 1.70 +/- 0.10(-0.10)(+0.11), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is related to systematic effects. Using established branching fractions for the B-0 -> D*(-) pi(+)pi(-)pi(+) and B-0 -> D*(-)mu(+)nu(mu) modes, the lepton universality test R(D*(-)) = B(B-0 -> D*(-)tau(+)nu(tau))/B(B-0 -> D*(-)mu(+)nu(mu)) is calculated, R(D*(-)) = 0.247 +/- 0.015 +/- 0.015 +/- 0.012, where the third uncertainty is due to the uncertainties on the external branching fractions. This result is consistent with the Standard Model prediction and with previous measurements.

Abstract: We report a direct measurement of D-0-(D) over bar (0) mixing parameters through a time-dependent amplitude analysis of the Dalitz plots of D-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) and, for the first time, D-0 -> (KSK+K-)-K-0 decays. The low-momentum pion pi(+)(s) in the decay D*(+) -> D-0 pi(+)(s) identifies the flavor of the neutral D meson at its production. Using 468.5 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) colliding-beam data recorded near root s = 10.6 by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider at SLAC, we measure the mixing parameters x = [1.6 + 2.3(stat) +/- 1.2(syst) +/- 0.8(model)] X 10(-3), and y = [5.7 +/- 2.0(stat) +/- 1.3(syst) +/- 0.7(model)] X 10(-3). These results provide the best measurement to date of x and y. The knowledge of the value of x, in particular, is crucial for understanding the origin of mixing.

Abstract: We present a search for f(J)(2220) production in radiative J/psi --> gamma f(J)(2220) decays using 460 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e(+)e(-) collider. The f(J)(2220) is searched for in the decays to K+K- and (KSKS0)-K-0. No evidence of this resonance is observed, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the branching fractions for J/psi --> gamma f(J)(2220) and f(J)(2220) --> K+K-((KSKS0)-K-0) as a function of spin and helicity are set at the level of 10(-5), below the central values reported by the Mark III experiment.

Abstract: We report the measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa CP-violating angle gamma through a Dalitz plot analysis of neutral D-meson decays to K-S(0)pi(+) pi(-) and K-S(0) K+ K- produced in the processes B--/+ -> DK -/+, B--/+ -> D* K--/+ with D* -> D pi(0), D gamma and B -/+ DK*-/+ with K*(-/+) -> K-S(0)pi(-/+), using 468 million B (B) over bar pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at SLAC. We measure gamma = (68 +/- 14 +/- 4 +/- 3)degrees (modulo 180 degrees), where the first error is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty, and the third reflects the uncertainty in the description of the neutral D decay amplitudes. This result is inconsistent with gamma = 0 ( no direct CP violation) with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations.

Phys. Rev. Lett., 105(5), 051602–8pp.
Abstract: Using 467 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) annihilation data collected with the BABAR detector, we measure B(tau(-)->mu(-)(nu) over bar (mu)nu(tau))/B(tau(-)-> e(-)(nu) over bar (e)nu(tau)) = (0.9796 +/- 0.0016 +/- 0.0036), B(tau(-)->pi(-)nu(tau))/B(tau(-)-> e(-)nu(e)nu(tau)) = (0.5945 +/- 0.0014 +/- 0.0061), and B(tau(-)-> K-nu(tau))/B(tau(-)-> e(-)nu(e)nu(tau)) = (0.03882 +/- 0.00032 +/- 0.00057), where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. From these precision similar to measurements, we test the standard model assumption of μ- e and tau – μcharge current lepton universality and provide determinations of vertical bar V-us vertical bar experimentally independent of the decay of a kaon.

Abstract: The ratio R-tau mu(Y(1S)) = Gamma Y(1S)->tau(+)tau(-)/Gamma(+)(-)(Y(1S)->mu)(mu) is measured using a sample of (121.8 +/- 1.2) x 10(6)Y(3S) events recorded by the BABAR detector. This measurement is intended as a test of lepton universality and as a search for a possible light pseudoscalar Higgs boson. In the standard model (SM) this ratio is expected to be close to 1. Any significant deviations would violate lepton universality and could be introduced by the coupling to a light pseudoscalar Higgs boson. The analysis studies the decays Y(3S) -> Y(1S)pi(+)pi(-), Y(1S) -> l(+)l(-), where l = mu, tau. The result, R-tau μ(Y(1S)) = 1.005 +/- 0.013(stat) +/- 0.022(syst), shows no deviation from the expected SM value, while improving the precision with respect to previous measurements.
