Abstract |
A search for a heavy CP-odd Higgs boson, A, decaying into a Z boson and a heavy CP-even Higgs boson, H, is presented. It uses the full LHC Run 2 dataset of pp collisions at root s = 13TeV collected with the ATLAS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb(-1). The search for A -> ZH is performed in the l(+)l(-)t (t) over bar t and nu(nu) over barb (b) over bar final states and surpasses the reach of previous searches in different final states in the region with m(H) > 350 GeV and m(A) > 800 GeV. No significant deviation from the Standard Model expectation is found. Upper limits are placed on the production cross-section times the decay branching ratios. Limits with less model dependence are also presented as functions of the reconstructed m(t (t) over bar) and m(b (b) over bar) distributions in the l(+)l(-)t (t) over bar and nu(nu) over barb (b) over bar channels, respectively. In addition, the results are interpreted in the context of two-Higgs-doublet models. |

Abstract |
Baryon number is an accidental symmetry of the Standard Model at the Lagrangian level. Its violation is arguably one of the most compelling phenomena predicted by physics beyond the Standard Model. Furthermore, there is a large experimental effort to search for it including the Hyper-K, DUNE, JUNO, and THEIA experiments. Therefore, an agnostic, model-independent, analysis of baryon number violation using the power of Effective Field Theory is very timely. In particular, in this work we study the contribution of dimension six and seven effective operators to |triangle(B – L)| = 0, 2 nucleon decays taking into account the effects of Renormalisation Group Evolution. We obtain lower limits on the energy scale of each operator and study the correlations between different decay modes. We find that for some operators the effect of running is very significant. |

Abstract |
We explore the origin of Majorana masses within the majoron model and how this can lead to the generation of a distinguishable primordial stochastic background of gravitational waves. We first show how in the simplest majoron model only a contribution from cosmic string can be within the reach of planned experiments. We then consider extensions containing multiple complex scalars, demonstrating how in this case a spectrum comprising contributions from both a strong first order phase transition and cosmic strings can naturally emerge. We show that the interplay between multiple scalar fields can amplify the phase transition signal, potentially leading to double peaks over the wideband sloped spectrum from cosmic strings. We also underscore the possibility of observing such a gravitational wave background to provide insights into the reheating temperature of the universe. We conclude highlighting how the model can be naturally combined with scenarios addressing the origin of matter of the universe, where baryogenesis occurs via leptogenesis and a right-handed neutrino plays the role of dark matter. |

Abstract |
A search for R-parity-violating supersymmetry in final states with high jet multiplicity is presented. The search uses 140 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider. The results are interpreted in the context of R-parity-violating supersymmetry models that feature prompt gluino-pair production decaying directly to three jets each or decaying to two jets and a neutralino which subsequently decays promptly to three jets. No significant excess over the Standard Model expectation is observed and exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level are extracted. Gluinos with masses up to 1800 GeV are excluded when decaying directly to three jets. In the cascade scenario, gluinos with masses up to 2340 GeV are excluded for a neutralino with mass up to 1250 GeV. |

Abstract |
The inclusion of an additional U(1) gauge L-mu – L-tau symmetry would release the tension between the measured and the predicted value of the anomalous muon magnetic moment: this paradigm assumes the existence of a new, light Z ' vector boson, with dominant coupling to μand tau leptons and interacting with electrons via a loop mechanism. The L-mu – L-tau model can also explain the Dark Matter relic abundance, by assuming that the Z ' boson acts as a “portal” to a new Dark Sector of particles in Nature, not charged under known interactions. In this work we present the results of the Z ' search performed by the NA64-e experiment at CERN SPS, that collected similar to 9 x 10(11) 100 GeV electrons impinging on an active thick target. Despite the suppressed Z ' production yield with an electron beam, NA64-e provides the first accelerator-based results excluding the g – 2 preferred band of the Z ' parameter space in the 1 keV < m(Z ') less than or similar to 2 MeV range, in complementarity with the limits recently obtained by the NA64-mu experiment with a muon beam. |
