We discuss the potential of first-principle QCD calculations to yield a precise description of the substructure of jets and study the accuracy of state-of-the-art Monte Carlo tools. Limitations of the experiments{\textquoteright} ability to resolve substructure are evaluated, with a focus on the impact of additional (pile-up) proton proton collisions on jet substructure performance in future LHC operating scenarios. A final section summarizes the lessons learnt from jet substructure analyses in searches for new physics in the production of boosted top quarks.", optnote="WOS:000333208300001", optnote="exported from refbase (https://references.ific.uv.es/refbase/show.php?record=1736), last updated on Fri, 25 Apr 2014 11:32:54 +0000", issn="1434-6044", doi="10.1140/epjc/s10052-014-2792-8", opturl="http://arxiv.org/abs/1311.2708", opturl="https://doi.org/10.1140/epjc/s10052-014-2792-8", archivePrefix="arXiv", eprint="1311.2708", language="English" }
