Abstract |
We study the process e(+)e(-) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-) with initial-state-radiation events produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies 10.58 and 10.54 GeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 454 fb(-1). We investigate the J/psi pi(+)pi(-) mass distribution in the region from 3.5 to 5.5 GeV/c(2). Below 3.7 GeV/c(2) the psi (2S) signal dominates, and above 4 GeV/c(2) there is a significant peak due to the Y(4260). A fit to the data in the range 3.74-5.50 GeV/c(2) yields a mass value 4245 +/- 5(stat) +/- 4(syst) MeV/c(2) and a width value 114(-15)(+16)(stat) +/- 7(syst) MeV for this state. We do not confirm the report from the Belle Collaboration of a broad structure at 4.01 GeV/c(2). In addition, we investigate the pi(+)pi(-) system which results from Y(4260) decay. |

Abstract |
A search for the rare decays B-s(0) -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu-and B-0 -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu-is performed in a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. Decay candidates with pion pairs that have invariant mass in the range 0.5-1.3GeV/c(2) and with muon pairs that do not originate from a resonance are considered. The first observation of the decay B-s(0) -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu- and the first evidence of the decay B-0 -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu-are obtained and the branching fractions, restricted to the dipion-mass range considered, are measured to be B(B-s(0) -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu(-)) =(8.6 +/- 1.5(stat) +/- 0.7(syst) +/- 0.7 (norm)) x 10(-8) and B(B-0 -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu(-)) =(2.11 +/- 0.51(stat) +/- 0.15(syst) +/- 0.16(norm)) x10(-8), where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of the decay B-0. -> J/Psi(mu(+) mu(-)) K*(892)(0)(-> K+ pi(-)), used as a normalisation. |

Abstract |
The decays B+-> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)K(+)are studied using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1)collected with the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions between 2011 and 2018. Precise measurements of the ratios of branching fractions with the intermediate psi(2)(3823), chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) states are reported. The values areBB+->psi 2(“>3823K+xB psi 2(”>3823 -> J/psi pi+pi-BB+->chi c1>3872K+xB chi c1>3872 -> J/psi pi+pi-=>3.56 +/- 0.67 +/- 0.11x10-2,BB+->psi 2>3823K+xB psi 2>3823 -> J/psi pi+pi-BB+->psi>2SK+xB psi>2S -> J/psi pi+pi-=>1.31 +/- 0.25 +/- 0.04x10-3,BB+->chi c1>3872K+xB chi c1>3872 -> J/psi pi+pi-BB+->psi>2SK+xB psi>2S -> J/psi pi+pi-= where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The decay of B+->psi(2)(3823)K(+)with psi(2)(3823)-> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)is observed for the first time with a significance of 5.1 standard deviations. The mass differences between the psi(2)(3823), chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) states are measured to be m chi c1>3872-m psi 2>3823=47. 50 +/- 0.53 +/- 0.13MeV/c2,m psi 2 2S=185.49 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.03MeV/c2, resulting in the most precise determination of the chi(c1)(3872) mass. The width of the psi(2)(3823) state is found to be below 5.2 MeV at 90% confidence level. The Breit-Wigner width of the chi(c1)(3872) state is measured to be Gamma chi c13872BW=0.96-0.18+0.19 +/- 0.21MeV={0.96}_{-0.18}<^>{+0.19}\pm 0.21\;\mathrm{MeV} which is inconsistent with zero by 5.5 standard deviations. |

Abstract |
The product of the A(b)(0) ((B) over bar (0)) differential production cross-section and the branching fraction of the decay A(b)(0)-> J/psi pK(-) ((B) over bar (0)-> J/psi p (K) over bar*(892)(0)) is measured as a function of the beauty hadron transverse momentum, p(T), and rapidity, y. The kinematic region of the measurements is p(T) <20 GeV/c and 2.0 < y < 4.5. The measurements use a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb(-1) collected by the LHCb detector in pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies root s=7 TeV in 2011 and root s=8 TeV in 2012. Based on previous LHCb results of the fragmentation fraction ratio, f(Ab0)/f(d), the branching fraction of the decay A(b)(0)-> J/psi pK(-) is measured to be B(A(b)(0)-> J/psi pK(-))=(3.17 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.07 +/- 0.34(-0.28)(+0.45))x10(-4) where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is due to the uncertainty on the branching fraction of the decay (B) over bar (0)-> J/psi p (K) over bar*(892)(0), and the fourth is due to the knowledge of f(Ab0)/f(d). The sum of the asymmetries in the production and decay between A(b)(0) and (A) over bar (0)(b) is also measured as a function of p(T) and y. The previously published branching fraction of A(b)(0)-> J/psi p pi(-), relative to that of A(b)(0)-> J/psi pK(-), is updated. The branching fractions of A(b)(0)-> P-c(+)(-> J/psi p)K- are determined. |

Abstract |
We study the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)eta gamma, where the photon is radiated from the initial state. About 8000 fully reconstructed events of this process are selected from the BABAR data sample with an integrated luminosity of 469 fb(-1). Using the pi(+)pi(-)eta invariant mass spectrum, we measure the e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)eta cross section in the e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energy range from 1.15 to 3.5 GeV. The cross section is well described by the Vector-Meson dominance model with four.-like states. We observe 49 +/- 9 events of the J/Psi decay to pi(+)pi(-)eta and measure the product Gamma B-J/Psi -> e+e-(J/Psi ->pi+pi-eta) = 2.34 +/- 0.43(stat) +/- 0.16(syst) eV. |

Abstract |
The process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(0)gamma is studied at a center-of-mass energy near the Upsilon(4S) resonance using a data sample of 469 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. We have performed a precise measurement of the e(+)e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(0) cross section in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.62 to 3.5 GeV. In the energy regions of the omega and phi resonances, the cross section is measured with a systematic uncertainty of 1.3%. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly calculated using the measured e(+) e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(0) cross section from threshold to 2.0 GeV is (45.86 +/- 0.14 +/- 0.58) x 10(-10). From the fit to the measured 3 pi mass spectrum we have determined the resonance parameters Gamma(omega -> e(+)e(-)) B(omega -> pi(+) pi- pi(0)) = (0.5698 +/- 0.0031 +/- 0.0082) keV, Gamma(phi -> e(+)e(-)) B(phi -> pi(+) pi(-)pi(0)) = (0.1841 +/- 0.0021 +/- 0.0080) keV, and B(rho -> 3 pi) = (0.88 +/- 0.23 +/- 0.30) x 10(-4). The significance of the rho -> 3 pi signal is greater than 6 sigma. For the J/psi resonance we have measured the product Gamma(J/psi -> e(+) e(-)) B (J/psi -> 3 pi) = (0.1248 +/- 0.0019 +/- 0.0026) keV. |

Abstract |
A study of the lineshape of the chi(c1) (3872) state is made using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector. Candidate chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) mesons from b-hadron decays are selected in the J/psi pi(+)pi(-) decay mode. Describing the lineshape with a Breit-Wigner function, the mass splitting between the chi(c1 )(3872) and psi(2S) states, Delta m, and the width of the chi(c1 )(3872) state, Gamma(Bw), are determined to be (Delta m=185.598 +/- 0.067 +/- 0.068 Mev,)(Gamma BW=1.39 +/- 0.24 +/- 0.10 Mev,) where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Using a Flatte-inspired model, the mode and full width at half maximum of the lineshape are determined to be (mode=3871.69+0.00+0.05 MeV.)(FWHM=0.22-0.04+0.13+0.07+0.11-0.06-0.13 MeV, ) An investigation of the analytic structure of the Flatte amplitude reveals a pole structure, which is compatible with a quasibound D-0(D) over bar*(0) state but a quasivirtual state is still allowed at the level of 2 standard deviations. |

Abstract |
The kinematic dependences of the relative production rates, f(Lambda b)(0)/f(d), of Lambda(0)(b) baryons and B-0 mesons are measured using Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-) and (B) over bar (0) -> D+pi(-) decays. The measurements use proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb(-1) at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, recorded in the forward region with the LHCb experiment. The relative production rates are observed to depend on the transverse momentum, pT, and pseudorapidity, eta, of the beauty hadron, in the studied kinematic region 1.5 < pT < 40 GeV/c and 2 < eta < 5. Using a previous LHCb measurement of f(Lambda b)(0)/f(d) in semileptonic decays, the branching fraction B (Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-)) = (4.30 +/- 0.03(-0.11)(+0.12)+/- 0.26 +/- 0.21) x 10(-3) is obtained, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is from the previous LHCb measurement of f(Lambda b)(0)/f(d) and the fourth is due to the (B) over bar (0) -> D+pi(-) branching fraction. This is the most precise measurement of a Lambda(0)(b) branching fraction to date. |

Abstract |
The e(+)e(-) -> K+K- cross section and charged-kaon electromagnetic form factor are measured in the e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energy range (E) from 2.6 to 8.0 GeV using the initial-state radiation technique with an undetected photon. The study is performed using 469 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II2 e(+)e(-) collider at center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The form factor is found to decrease with energy faster than 1/E-2 and approaches the asymptotic QCD prediction. Production of the K+K- final state through the J/psi and psi(2S) intermediate states is observed. The results for the kaon form factor are used together with data from other experiments to perform a model-independent determination of the relative phases between electromagnetic (single-photon) and strong amplitudes in J/psi and psi(2S). K+K- decays. The values of the branching fractions measured in the reaction e(+)e(-) -> K+K- are shifted relative to their true values due to interference between resonant and nonresonant amplitudes. The values of these shifts are determined to be about +/- 5% for the J/psi meson and +/- 15% for the psi(2S) meson. |

Abstract |
Quantum chromodynamics, the theory of the strong force, describes interactions of coloured quarks and gluons and the formation of hadronic matter. Conventional hadronic matter consists of baryons and mesons made of three quarks and quark-antiquark pairs, respectively. Particles with an alternative quark content are known as exotic states. Here a study is reported of an exotic narrow state in the (DD0)-D-0 pi(+) mass spectrum just below the D*+D-0 mass threshold produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The state is consistent with the ground isoscalar T-cc(+), tetraquark with a quark content of cc (u) over bar(d) over bar and spin-parity quantum numbers J(P) =1(+). Study of the DD mass spectra disfavours interpretation of the resonance as the isovector state. The decay structure via intermediate off-shell D*(+) mesons is consistent with the observed D-0 pi(+) mass distribution. To analyse the mass of the resonance and its coupling to the DID system, a dedicated model is developed under the assumption of an isoscalar axial-vector T-cc(+), state decaying to the D*D channel. Using this model, resonance parameters including the pole position, scattering length, effective range and compositeness are determined to reveal important information about the nature of the T-cc(+), state. In addition, an unexpected dependence of the production rate on track multiplicity is observed. |
