BABAR Collaboration(del Amo Sanchez, P. et al), Lopez-March, N., Martinez-Vidal, F., Milanes, D. A., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Observation and study of the baryonic B-meson decays B -> D(*) p(p)over-bar (pi)(pi). Phys. Rev. D, 85(9), 092017–21pp.
Abstract: We present results for B-meson decay modes involving a charm meson, protons, and pions using 455 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs recorded by the BaBar detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The branching fractions are measured for the following ten decays: (B) over bar (0) -> D-0 p (p) over bar, (B) over bar (0) -> D*(0) p (p) over bar, (B) over bar (0) -> D+ p (p) over bar pi(-) , (B) over bar (0) -> D-0 p (p) over bar pi(-) , B- -> D-0 p (p) over bar pi(-) , B- -> D*(0) p (p) over bar pi(-) , (B) over bar (0) -> D-0 p (p) over bar pi(-) pi(+) , (B) over bar (0) -> D*(0) p (p) over bar pi(-) pi(+) B- -> D+ p (p) over bar pi(-) pi(-) , and B- -> D*(0) p (p) over bar pi(-) pi(-). The four B- and the two five-body (B) over bar (0) modes are observed for the first time. The four-body modes are enhanced compared to the three- and the five-body modes. In the three-body modes, the M(p (p) over bar) and M(D-(*)0 p) invariant- mass distributions show enhancements near threshold values. In the four-body mode (B) over bar (0) -> D+ p (p) over bar pi(-) , the M(p pi(-)) distribution shows a narrow structure of unknown origin near 1: 5 GeV/c(2). The distributions for the five-body modes, in contrast to the others, are similar to the expectations from uniform phase-space predictions.

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Search for Low-Mass Dark-Sector Higgs Bosons. Phys. Rev. Lett., 108(21), 211801–7pp.
Abstract: Recent astrophysical and terrestrial experiments have motivated the proposal of a dark sector with GeV-scale gauge boson force carriers and new Higgs bosons. We present a search for a dark Higgs boson using 516 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector. We do not observe a significant signal and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the standard model-dark-sector mixing angle and the dark-sector coupling constant.

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Lopez-March, N., Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Search for the decay D-0 -> gamma gamma and measurement of the branching fraction for D-0 -> pi(0)pi(0). Phys. Rev. D, 85(9), 091107–8pp.
Abstract: We search for the rare decay of the D-0 meson to two photons, D-0 -> gamma gamma, and present a measurement of the branching fraction for a D-0 meson decaying to two neutral pions, B(D-0 -> pi(0)pi(0)). The data sample analyzed corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 470.5 fb(-1) collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at SLAC. We place an upper limit on the branching fraction, B(D-0 -> gamma gamma) < 2.2 x 10(-6), at 90% confidence level. This limit improves on the existing limit by an order of magnitude. We also find B(D-0 -> pi(0)pi(0)) = (8.4 +/- 0.1 +/- 0.4 +/- 0.3 +/-) x 10(-4).

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Study of CP violation in Dalitz-plot analyses of B-0 -> K+ K- K-s(0), B+ -> K+ K- K+, and B+ -> (KsKsK+)-K-0-K-0. Phys. Rev. D, 85(11), 112010–31pp.
Abstract: We perform amplitude analyses of the decays B-0 -> K+ K- K-s(0), B+ -> K+ K- K+, and B+ -> K-s(0) K-s(0) K+, and measure CP-violating parameters and partial branching fractions. The results are based on a data sample of approximately 470 x 10(6) B (B) over bar decays, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. For B+ -> K+ K- K+, we find a direct CP asymmetry in B+ -> phi(1020)K+ of A(CP) = (12.8 +/- 4.4 +/- 1.3)%, which differs from zero by 2.8 sigma. For B-0 -> K+ K- K-s(0), we measure the CP-violating phase ss(eff)(phi(1020)K-s(0)) = (21 +/- 6 +/- 2)degrees. For B+ -> K-s(0) K-s(0) K+, we measure an overall direct CP asymmetry of A(CP) = (4(-5)(+4) +/- 2)%. We also perform an angular-moment analysis of the three channels and determine that the f(X()1500) state can be described well by the sum of the resonances f(0)(1500), f(2)'(1525), and f(0)(1710).

Abstract: We study the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)gamma, with a photon emitted from the initial-state electron or positron, using 454.3 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC, corresponding to approximately 260 000 signal events. We use these data to extract the nonradiative sigma(e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)) cross section in the energy range from 0.6 to 4.5 GeV. The total uncertainty of the cross section measurement in the peak region is less than 3%, higher in precision than the corresponding results obtained from energy scan data.

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Search for the decay modes B-+/- -> h(+/-)tau l. Phys. Rev. D, 86(1), 012004–14pp.
Abstract: We present a search for the lepton flavor violating decay modes B-+/- -> h(+/-)tau l (h = K, pi; l = e, mu) using the BABAR data sample, which corresponds to 472 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs. The search uses events where one B meson is fully reconstructed in one of several hadronic final states. Using the momenta of the reconstructed B, h, and l candidates, we are able to fully determine the tau four-momentum. The resulting tau candidate mass is our main discriminant against combinatorial background. We see no evidence for B-+/- -> h(+/-)tau l decays and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on each branching fraction at the level of a few times 10(-5).

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Azzolini, V., Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Study of (B)over-bar -> X(u)l(v)over-bar decays in B(B)over-bar events tagged by a fully reconstructed B-meson decay and determination of vertical bar V-ub vertical bar. Phys. Rev. D, 86(3), 032004–23pp.
Abstract: We report measurements of partial branching fractions for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays (B) over bar -> X(u)l (v) over bar and the determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element vertical bar V-ub vertical bar. The analysis is based on a sample of 467 x 10(6) Y(4S) -> B (B) over bar decays recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP- II e(+)e(-) storage rings. We select events in which the decay of one of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and an electron or a muon signals the semileptonic decay of the other B meson. We measure partial branching fractions Delta B in several restricted regions of phase space and determine the CKM element vertical bar V-ub vertical bar based on different QCD predictions. For decays with a charged lepton momentum p(l)* > 1.0 GeV in the B meson rest frame, we obtain Delta B = (1.80 +/- 0.13(stat) +/- 0.15(sys) +/- 0.02(theo)) x 10(-3) from a fit to the two-dimensional M-X – q(2) distribution. Here, M-X refers to the invariant mass of the final state hadron X and q(2) is the invariant mass squared of the charged lepton and neutrino. From this measurement we extract vertical bar V-ub vertical bar = (4.33 +/- 0.24(exp) +/- 0.15(theo)) x 10(-3) as the arithmetic average of four results obtained from four different QCD predictions of the partial rate. We separately determine partial branching fractions for (B) over bar (0) and B- decays and derive a limit on the isospin breaking in (B) over bar -> X(u)l (v) over bar decays.

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Search for the decay modes D-0 -> e(+) e(-), D-0 -> mu(+) mu(-), and D-0 -> e(+/-) μ-/+. Phys. Rev. D, 86(3), 032001–10pp.
Abstract: We present searches for the rare decay modes D-0 -> e(+) e(-), D-0 -> mu(+) mu(-), and D-0 -> e(+/-) mu(-/+) in continuum e(+) e(-) -> c (c) over bar events recorded by the BABAR detector in a data sample that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 468 fb(-1). These decays are highly Glashow-Iliopoulos-Maiani suppressed but may be enhanced in several extensions of the standard model. Our observed event yields are consistent with the expected backgrounds. An excess is seen in the D-0 -> mu(+) mu(-) channel, although the observed yield is consistent with an upward background fluctuation at the 5% level. Using the Feldman-Cousins method, we set the following 90% confidence level intervals on the branching fractions: B(D-0 -> e(+) e(-)) < 1.7 x 10(-7), B(D-0 -> mu(+) mu(-)) within [0.6,8.1] x 10(-7), and B(D-0 -> e(+/-) mu(-/+)) < 3.3 x 10(-7).

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Lopez-March, N., Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Cross sections for the reactions e(+)e(-) -> K+K-pi(+)pi(-), K+K-pi(0)pi(0), and K+K-K+K- measured using initial-state radiation events. Phys. Rev. D, 86(1), 012008–34pp.
Abstract: We study the processes e(+)e(-) -> K+K-pi(+)pi(-)gamma, K+K-pi(0)pi(0)gamma, and K+K-K+K-gamma, where the photon is radiated from the initial state. About 84000, 8000, and 4200 fully reconstructed events, respectively, are selected from 454 fb(-1) of BABAR data. The invariantmass of the hadronic final state defines the e(+)e(-) center-of- mass energy, so that the K+K-pi(+)pi(-)gamma data can be compared with direct measurements of the e(+)e(-) -> K+K-pi(+)pi(-) reaction. No directmeasurements exist for the e(+)e(-) -> K+K-pi(0)pi(0) or e(+)e(-) -> K+K-K+K- reactions, andwe present an update of our previous result based on a data sample that is twice as large. Studying the structure of these events, we find contributions froma number of intermediate states and extract their cross sections. In particular, we perform a more detailed study of the e(+)e(-) -> phi(1020)pi pi gamma reaction and confirm the presence of the Y(2175) resonance in the phi(1020)integral(0)(980) and K+K-integral(0)(980) modes. In the charmonium region, we observe the J/psi in all three final states and in several intermediate states, as well as the psi(2S) in some modes, and measure the corresponding products of branching fraction and electron width.

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Precise measurement of the e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)(gamma) cross section with the initial-state radiation method at BABAR. Phys. Rev. D, 86(3), 032013–49pp.
Abstract: A precise measurement of the cross section of the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-) (gamma) from threshold to an energy of 3 GeV is obtained with the initial-state radiation (ISR) method using 232 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The ISR luminosity is determined from a study of the leptonic process e(+)e(-) -> mu(+)mu(-) (gamma)gamma(ISR), which is found to agree with the next-to-leading-order QED prediction to within 1.1%. The cross section for the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-) (gamma) is obtained with a systematic uncertainty of 0.5% in the dominant rho resonance region. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly calculated using the measured pi pi cross section from threshold to 1.8 GeV is (514.1 +/- 2.2(stat) +/- 3.1(sys)) x 10(-10).
